Jefferson County
Comprehensive Plan:
Forward Together

The Jefferson County Comprehensive Plan will outline a vision and strategy for the future development and growth of the county, including a broad range of topics such as land use, transportation, housing, economic development, natural resources, and community services, with the primary focus being the unincorporated areas of the County.

There are several reasons why this comprehensive planning process is important for Jefferson County:

  • Decision-Making Framework: The plan will serve as a guide for decision-makers in the county, such as county officials, planners, and developers.
  • Public Engagement: The plan will be developed through a collaborative process that involves input from a wide range of stakeholders, including residents, business owners, and community groups.
  • Economic Development: The comp plan can help to attract new businesses and industries to the county by identifying areas for growth and development.
  • Natural Resources: Another goal of the plan is to protect natural resources, such as forests, wetlands, and waterways, and provide access to these areas, which can help to maintain the environmental quality and biodiversity of the county.
  • Quality of Life: The plan can help to improve the quality of life for residents by ensuring that the county has a diverse range of housing options, transportation choices, community services, and recreational opportunities.

Jefferson County is committed to keeping its residents informed and involved in this planning process. We know that as each community thrives, our entire county benefits, recognizing that we are only as strong as our weakest community.

This comprehensive planning process will provide multiple opportunities for citizens in the County to engage in the project, both in-person and digitally.
